Law/Patents - Law (general) / Barristers (GB); training
English term or phrase: pupilmaster or pupilmistress
Context: Young barristers spend the early part of their training as ‘pupils’: these pupils spend the first six months shadowing more senior barristers –  their pupilmaster or pupilmistress –  getting the lie of the land, learning from them, and doing small pieces of work for them.

(ung.) Lehrmeister/in zum Rechtsreferendariat (AUT: auf Rechtskonzipientzeit)

Explanation:
I agree with Ivo, except ebleive the Rechtsrefendar/in > AUT - konzipient/in ought to be roughly equated.

PS my Rechtsanwältin in Hamburg was more of an 'Aufsichtsperson' than an Ausbilder/in.

Vergleiche: bereits qualifizierten Barristers zur Fort- bzw. Weiterbildung zugewiesene 'Advocacy Trainers' - d.h. auch Ausbilder.

Example sentence(s):
  • Vorbei ist dann die bequeme Zeit, in der man sich durch die Referendargeschäftsstelle nach dem Zufallsprinzip einem Ausbilder zuweisen lässt.
