English term or phrase: orphan's court division
A clerk of the said Orphan's Court Division certifies a text to be a true and correct copy of a Duplicate Certificate. The certificate is needed for a marriage license. I found "Nachlaßgericht" on the Dietl/Lorenz law dictionary, but I think its more "Waisengericht", because a "Nachlaßgericht" cannot permit marriage, am I right? Unfortunately, I am not well informed about the American court system. Can anybody help me?

Explanation:
Romain gives "Vormundschaftsgericht und Nachlassgericht", for the US, perhaps because the one court division handles both these family related issues. - This court will probably not be responsible for permitting the marriage, only certifying that the certificate (maybe a birth certificate) is true and correct. Court division is possibly similar to Gerichtsbarkeit / Gerichtskammer / Gerichtsabteilung.

Vormundschaftsgericht

Explanation:
This term, found in Herbst Legal Dictionary, is defined as "guardianship court" (French: tribunal des tutelles). Nachlassgericht is a probate court. Probate has to do with wills. Romain Dictionary of Legal and Commercial terms reads: orphan's court Vormundschaftsgericht und Nachlassgericht. (in some U.S. states). This appears to me to be an amalgamation. I would use Vormundschaftsgericht because it is more understandable. In many states, all of this would be handled by a Family Court. Joe Schmid, Charlotte, NC USA
