see below Explanation: Romain gives "Vormundschaftsgericht und Nachlassgericht", for the US, perhaps because the one court division handles both these family related issues. - This court will probably not be responsible for permitting the marriage, only certifying that the certificate (maybe a birth certificate) is true and correct. Court division is possibly similar to Gerichtsbarkeit / Gerichtskammer / Gerichtsabteilung. |

Nachlassgericht Explanation: This is definitely the best selection; you might check out www.google.com for some background information. Good Luck! Antoinette |

Vormundschaftsgericht Explanation: This term, found in Herbst Legal Dictionary, is defined as "guardianship court" (French: tribunal des tutelles). Nachlassgericht is a probate court. Probate has to do with wills. Romain Dictionary of Legal and Commercial terms reads: orphan's court Vormundschaftsgericht und Nachlassgericht. (in some U.S. states). This appears to me to be an amalgamation. I would use Vormundschaftsgericht because it is more understandable. In many states, all of this would be handled by a Family Court.
