Steht das ths für 1000? Aber dann hätten die Birnen ja einen Durchmesser von 22,2 m ?!?
Und warum steht hier ', wenn danach nochmals inch steht?

Explanation:
7/8 = seven eighths d.h. man müsste dies eventuell "seven eighthsths" aussprechen! th hat nichts mit Tausendstel zu tun mMn.
Uebrigens, steht das Zeichen " für Inch, ' für Fuss.
Alles klar..?
