Hallo,

ich übersetze in Betriebsanleitung eines Sägewerks. Beim Throttle handelt es sich ganz eindeutig um die Drosselklappe, der dazugehörige Stellantrieb kommt auch im Text vor (Throttle actuator). Nun hat Throttel im Englischen zuweilen eine doppelte Bedeutung, einerseits bringt es das Prinzip der Drosselung zum Ausdruck und dann wieder das Entfernen dieser Drosselung (im Sinne von "Gas geben"). So auch in meinem Text:

Push the switch up to turn the throttle to full speed.

The sawhead and carriage can be moved with the *throttle OFF* but the *throttle has to be ON* and the engine in full speed before the carriage moves forward
to cut a log.

Ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher, wie ich dieses "widersprüchliche" Prinzip rüberbringen soll? Vollständige Öffnung der Drosselklappe (für throttle full speed)? Und wie steht´s dann mit ON und OFF, wenn bei ON die Zufuhr gewährleistet und sie bei OFF wiederum unterbrochen ist?

Um die beste Leistung zu erzielen, dafür sorgen, dass die Drosselklappe am Motor ganz offen ist, wenn der Steuerhebel voll durchgedrückt wird. Explanation:
Beim Durchlesen des Ausgangstexts fällt mir auf, dass nur zwei Leistungszustände des Motors erwähnt sind.
Vollgas: throttle has to be ON and the engine in full speed before... Standgas: throttle OFF
Ich würde den Zieltext so einfach wie möglich halten, denn die Erklärung mit der Drossel ist verwirrend.

Auch der Ausgangstext wäre verständlicher, wenn er sich die Erklärung auf >full speed< und >idle speed< beschränken würde. Es ist nie falsch, eine technische Übersetzung gegenüber dem Ausgangstext zu vereinfachen, wenn der Sinn erhalten bleibt.
