agree  Rolf Kern: Nach eingehendem Studium dieses Textes komme ich zum Schluss, dass hier tatsächlich die Abschaltung gemeint ist.

Auslöse-Drehzahl


Explanation:
"to trip" bedeutet ganz allgemein "auslösen", im Spezialfall kann dies abschalten sein. Leider fehlt etwas Kontext. Aber es wird offenbar irgendetwas ausgelöst. Diese Lösung scheint mir sicherer zu sein als die Abschaltung.

Wahrscheinlich ist doch die Abschaltung gemeint. Siehe in diesem Text: "Where a machine is
shutdown by one of its protective trip functions it is not to be restarted until the reasons have been fully
investigated."
