Hallo,

Es geht um einen "trip test incident" auf einer Raffinerie. Während dieses Tests (der Abschaltung eines Ofens) wird ein kritischer Fehler bezüglich der "defeat keys" (nach meiner Vorstellung sind dies physische Schlüssel/Buttons") gemacht. Bisher habe ich "defeat" als "außer Kraft setzen" interpretiert. Folgender Satz bewegt mich aber zu der Annahme, dass hier möglicherweise etwas anderes gemeint sein könnte:

The operator got down from the scaffold to investigate and shouted that the “heater had tripped” and “needed the defeats off”.

Defeats wird in diesem Dokument auch als Verb bezüglich der Gebläse verwendet:

A lapse by the Instrument Technician in the field resulted in omitting the procedure step to defeat H4103 fans.

Oder eben als "The PTR prepared for the test by having the procedure out on the panel and noted the defeat key numbers alongside each step of the procedure"

Hat jemand eine Idee, was genau "defeat" in einem Raffinerie-Kontext bedeuten könnte?

Ich freue mich auf Vorschläge.

Explanation:
Defeat key kann ich mir als Abschaltschwelle vorstellen, als Schwelldaten, d.h. wenn diese erreicht werden, wird die Raffinerie automatisch abgeschaltet, z.B. wenn giftige Gase austreten. Darauf können sich dann auch die "defeat key numbers" als Abschaltschwelldaten/Grenzwerte beziehen.
