the term "distillation cut" means that the material identified has an initial boiling point greater than or equal to the lower temperature.

Does anyone know the German term in a refinery context?

Wenn man Erdöl destilliert, unterscheidet man verschiedene Siedebereiche (Erdöl ist ja ein Gemisch aus vielen verschiedenen Verbindungen). Erst sieden die leichten Gase (C1-C4), dann kommt der Benzinsiedebereich (gasoline, naphtha), dann kommen die Mitteldestillate (diesel, home heating fuel, kerosine, jet fuel..), dann Gasöl, danach Vakuumgasöl. Was übrig bleibt, sind Rückstände (resid), die anders aufgearbeitet werden. Die "Grenze" zwischen diesen Fraktionen ist der Destillationsschnitt, d. h. wo man trennt.
