Ich würde bei der Übersetzung darauf achten, ob ein kausaler Zusammenhang ausgedrückt wird (werden muss).

Vielleicht den" je mehr . . . desto weniger" Test machen

Although I'm well aware that statistics is the best way to prove *any* point, it would help if we at least get our terminology straight.

@Cetacea: look at e.g. http://pathwayscourses.samhsa.gov/eval102/eval102_2_pg5.htm and explain to me why you think otherwise

@ReyM: the relevance of your example eludes me; as you point out in your own answer the existence of causality here is not clear (I'd even tend to say there doesn't have to be in this case), but even then it has no bearing on the use of the word 'inverse'

disagree  Martine Rey: Beispiel für "invers": die Abmessung des Becken ist invers korreliert mit der Grösse des Kopfes und des Halses. Das bedeutet, dass Hunde mit relativ kleinem Beckengürtel relativ grosse Köpfe haben. Oben geht es aber um einen kausalen Zusammenhang:

Wenn ich es recht bedenke, müsste es eigentlich heißen, sie sehen keinen Zusammenhang zwischen A und B, ansonsten würde "Positive parental behaviour was negatively related to problematic child behaviour " nicht viel Sinn machen.
