just background Explanation: Just as more background to Claudia's and Dierk's correct answers. I have noticed that the bank where I do my online banking sometimes also uses "privater Schlüssel" = "Anwenderschlüssel" and "öffentlicher Schlüssel" = "Bankschlüssel". I do not think these simplified, easier to understand terms are "official" though and they are definitely not "fine" enough for your translation. The third-party security system is considered by some to be safer than using a security system designed/installed by the bank alone. The idea being that the third party and the bank keep an eye on each other so nobody can mess with the customer's money. Like the old Henry Fonda, Terrance Hill film from 1973 put it however, "My Name Is Nobody". The opposite theory also has got something going for it, the more suspects the police have after the money is gone, the harder it may be to convict anyone. |
