ich würde sagen:
"man sticht am Boden der ersten Blütenblattes ein und stickt dann bis zur Spitze hoch"

( bin nicht unbedingt ein Stickerei-Fan, habe aber eine begabte Oma).

"tying in" bedeutet hier "einen Verriegelungsstich durchführen" (um ein Aufribbeln zu verhindern).

Ich habe Johnnas Antwort gewählt, weil ich inzwischen auch überzeugt bin, dass "walking the stitches" in diesem Zusammenhang in den meisten Fällen nichts weiter bedeutet als "sticken", obwohl es den Ausdruck "to embroider" dafür gibt.

und die Stiche bis zur Spitze hinauf fuehren.


Explanation:
da es sich um Stickerei handelt wuerde ich fuehren bevorzugen. Ich naehe etwas zusammen, aber ich fuehre die Nadel bei Stickerei.
