Du hast vielleicht recht. Aber dann hätte der Autor des Textes besser nicht "replace the entire wheel" sondern "remove/dismantle the entire wheel" schreiben sollen.

Aber egal, wenn ich übersetze, habe ich am Schluss den gesamten Text studiert, und dann haben sich die meisten Fragen ohnehin von selbst erledigt. :-)

I just took a look at one of our cases - the wheels are in a recess (housing) in the skids with the axle mounted about 25 mm inside. I assume that what is meant here is that the skid can be replaced when damaged without having to remove the wheel/housing assembly. (Earlier versions were probably cast as a single skid/wheel housing component - like a narrow, semicircular spoon with a long handle - necessitating the removal and replacement of the entire wheel/axle mount/skid assembly)

Anscheinend geht es hier um 2 verschiedene Dinge.

Das, was im ersten Absatz gemeint ist, ist laut AT ein Teil eines Rades oder einer Radbaugruppe. Das könnten Stopper sein (http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/trolley-wheel-with-stopper.h... oder Radhalter (http://www.dyersonline.com/advancedsearch/result/?q=skid)
