Die Anzahl der Drähte, an denen sich die Rebe hochranken soll, ist auf die gewünschte Größe der Laubwand zugeschnitten. Aus der Größe der Laubwand errechnet sich die maximale Anzahl der Trauben. Es ist auch vorher bekannt wie tief die Trauben hängen, nämlich so tief damit das Laub kein Schatten auf die Trauben wirft, aber so hoch, dass die Bodenfeuchtigkeit nicht zu Schimmelbildung führt.
