דיני עבדות Explanation: So the Egyptians enslaved the children of Israel with back breaking labor (Rashi Exodous 1:13 With back-breaking labor - With hard labor that crushes the body and breaks it.) In the Guttnick Chumash the verse has been translated - THe Egyptians enslaved the Children of Israel with crushing labor Reference: http://www.chabad.org/parshah/rashi/default.asp?AID=15559 |

Exodus chapter 21 Explanation: This chapter is the ethical comparison of the Jewish Torah to the Egyptian servitude laws.this chapter presents the servitude laws for a Jewish slave. (if I understood the purpose of your book correctly). If you speak Hebrew, http://www.tora.us.fm/tryg/mcwa/042.html provides you with the chapter and with commentaries (such as "Rashi") further down the links. For that in general you should write in the Israel Google: Dinei Eved Ivri - דיני עבד עברי. Good luck with your book -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 hrs 59 mins (2005-08-06 20:37:10 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- If it`s a translation, the terminology is insufficient. Because Exodus chapter 21 where the laws of servitude appear is called: Dinei Eved Ivri - דיני עבד עברי - at least, that`s how I found it on the google.
