INITIATE - as it is written in capital, it can also be the name of the clinical trial given by the people or company who organized it, but in the sentence and as per context - आरंभिक seems to be the best suited meaning for the word.

Reference information:
I did a lot of searching on the internet for both "initiate clinical trial" and "initiated clinical trial" and couldn't find anything. It doesn't seem to be a medical term.

Probably it is a spelling error in the source, and it should be "initiated clinical trial". If that is so, the above suggestion - प्रारंभ की गई/शुरू की गई - should be something that you can use.
