ग़ौरतलब है कि वैज्ञानिक तथा तकनीकी शब्दावली आयोग की प्रसारण संबंधी नवीनतम (2009 में प्रकाशित) शब्दावली 'प्रसारण तकनीकी शब्दावली' में traffic के लिए यातायात का ही प्रयोग किया गया है। traffic के लिए यातायात (यात+आयात) शब्द उपयुक्त भी है, लेकिन मोबाइल, कंप्यूटर में जिस कदर अंग्रेज़ी शब्द व्यापक प्रचलन में आ गए हैं, उसे देखते हुए शायद "ट्रैफ़िक" ही अधिक संप्रेषणीय हो। प्रसंगवश आयोग के शब्दावली निर्माण के सिद्धांतों में से एक सिद्धांत को इस संदर्भ में देखें -
"अंग्रेजी, पुर्तगाली, फ्रांसीसी आदि भाषाओं के ऐसे विदेशी शब्द जो भारतीय भाषाओं में प्रचलित हो गए हैं, जैसे टिकट, सिगनल, पेन्शन, पुलिस, ब्यूरो, रेस्तरां, डीलक्स आदि इसी रूप में अपनाए जाने चाहिए।"

मुझे लगता है पारिभाषिक शब्दावली में अधिकाधिक एकरूपता हो, इसके लिए मानक शब्दकोशों से शब्द लिए जाएँ या व्यापक प्रचलन वाले शब्द या पद ही अनुवाद में अपनाए जाएँ।
