Az első bejegyzésemet csak tapasztalataimra és megérzésemre hagyatkozva írtam. Most a munkanap végeztével volt időm megnézni a szótárakban is, és az alábbiakkal egészíteném ki, valamint azzal a megjegyzéssel, hogy az acumen (éleslátás, gyors felfogás, ítélőképesség) szót hiba lenne összekeverni a savvy-val (hozzáértés, jártasság). You cannot assume that staff members know, understand, or care about the financial information and metrics used by your organization. All too often individuals are promoted to positions with little knowledge of basic financial terminology or, more importantly, what it means for their work.

Why is financial acumen important to everyone in the organization? You may find that by providing some basic training with regards to financials, your staff, and subsequently the organization, may perform better. People can feel a better sense of ownership when they understand and can be held accountable to the bottom line for a program, campaign, etc.

Investing in the financial education of your staff at all levels can help ensure better financial success. It also provides a great accountability tool for all staff members and gives them a greater sense of value to the organization.

Ez egyébként ismét egy olyan kifejezés, amit nem szabad különvenni: nem financial és acumen, hanem "financial acumen"'. Az összes "financial acumen"-nel foglalkozó link megemlíti, hogy ezt meg lehet tanulni: "traningek" vannak. Ez nem lehet simán érzék vagy éleslátás, mert a cégek nem fizetnének ki többszázezer dollárt a a munkavállalóik "financial acumen" képzésre, ha itt csak a született pénzügyi "zsenikről" lenne szó. Márpedig a cégek pont ilyen financial acumen programokat tartanak a munkavállalóiknak (nem csak a tehetségeseknek, hanem mindenkinek), sőt diákoknak is: az interneten rengeteg ilyen programot lehet olvasni. Tehát logikailag kizárja szerintem a kettő, itt nem veleszületett adottságról van szó, hanem a rálátás, ismeret és gyakorlat kombinációjáról.
