English to Hungarian translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Nuclear Eng/Sci
Additional field(s): Physics
English term or phrase: spallation
Definition from European Nuclear Society:
Nuclear conversion during which an energy-rich bombardment particle knocks out numerous individual particles (protons, neutrons) from the target nucleus. Observed initially as an effect of cosmic radiation.

Example sentence(s):
  • There are many distinct methods of producing sufficiently strong neutron beams for science. Because of their flux (see below), that is higher by several orders of magnitude, nuclear reactors and spallation sources are nowadays preferred to radioisotope, photon or accelerator sources. AUSTRON
  • Finally, the pulsed proton beam will be directed onto a liquid mercury target, where 60-Hz pulses of neutrons will be created through spallation reactions of the protons with the mercury nuclei. Spallation Neutron Source
  • With the world's highest flux reactor-based neutron source (the High Flux Isotope Reactor) and the world's most intense pulsed accelerator-based neutron source (the Spallation Neutron Source), ORNL provides neutron scattering capabilities unavailable anywhere else in the world. spalláció

Definition from own experience or research:
Olyan magreakció, melynek során a célmagból kettő vagy több nukleon távozik, és így a célmag rendszáma és tömegszáma nagymértékben csökken. A spalláció létrehozásához a bombázó részecskének nagyon nagy, több száz MeV energiájúnak kell lennie.
(Fizikai kislexikon)

Example sentence(s):
  • Ha egy nehéz atommag igen nagy energiájú (1-10 GeV) részecskékkel (p, . stb.) lép kölcsönhatásba, akkor sok elemi részecske és maradék magképződmény keletkezik. Ez a spalláció. Két különböző típusát szokás megkülönböztetni: 1) hadronspalláció (erős kölcsönhatási folyamatok), 2) fotonspalláció (elektromágneses kölcsönhatási folyamatok). - KFKI
  • Határozott igen-t mond a város az Európai Spallációs Neutronforrás elnevezésű berendezés fogadására, amely mellett egyben a kontinens egyik legnagyobb kutatási és fejlesztési központja épülhet fel. – A beruházás nagyságrendje Euró-milliárdokban mérhető, és a megvalósításához Debrecenben minden feltétel megvan – közölte Kósa Lajos polgármester hozzátéve, hogy ekkora létesítmény kormányzati döntés nélkül nem kivitelezhető. - Atomki
  • A nagy aktivitású hulladékokkal kapcsolatos társadalmi ellenérzés a sugárzó anyagok stabil, vagy rövid felezési idejű izotópokká történő átalakítására irányította a figyelmet, s ami a spallációs fizika újjáéledéséhez is elvezetett. Ezt a törekvést támasztja alá az is, hogy a spallációs sugárforrások fejlesztésére, a kölcsönhatások kísérleti, elméleti tanulmányozására, gyakorlati teljesítőképességének a meghatározására irányuló tanulmányok, szakcikkek száma ezres nagyságrendű, így ezeknek még vázlatos ismertetésére sem gondolhatunk. - Változó világ
