Szerintem itt arról van szó, hogy - ellentétben a fényképezőgéppel - az emberi szem korrigálja a fény színhőmérsékletének változását a már ismert (megszokott) érzet szerint. Azaz, ha pl. fehérnek érzékeltük a világítást a szobában, majd ehhez egy lámpa bekapcsolásával hozzáadódik egy sárga árnyalat, általában nem fogjuk sárgábbnak érzékelni a teret, mert agyunk helyreállítja a korábbi állapot szerinti egyensúlyt. A fényképezőgépen ez nem történik meg, a kép sárgább lesz.
