agree  Richard Benham: Not cantik? (Just asking--I know your other suggestions make sense.)//I'll take your word for it, although Indonesian speakers often contradict one another about usage!

  -> I'd say cantik is more appropriate for people. When it comes to hair, we normally just say rambutnya indah/bagus, not cantik.

agree  Lenah Susianty: rambut is always bagus/indah not cantik

  -> Indeed - thanks, Lenah.

agree  Sugeng Hariyanto: This is what we call "collocation". "Rambut" always goes with "indah" or "bagus", eventhough it belongs to a girl. "Cantik" is awkward if paired with "rambut".

  -> Thanks Sugeng. see, it's not true that we Indonesians often contradict one another ;)

agree  Anthony Indra: Rambut is bagus, but it is not a sin to use cantik, especially in art/fiction
11 hrs
  -> Thanks Anthony. Of course it won't be a sin to say rambut cantik, it's just uncommon ;)

agree  Said Bazry: Nowadays, I see some ads on TV use 'rambut cantik'. I am not sure if this new collocation will be accepted by the society.
