F. Sébert (DG REGIO) invited all the Audit Authorities to conclude rapidly the audit work, as there are some programmes still working on closure. There are cases where the managing authorities ** are still withdrawing operations ** certified to the European Commission and this has to be checked after by the Audit Authorities to ensure it does not affect their own sample and that the issues are not systemic.

Considering that there is a high risk that some closures will go on for a long period of time, the programme authorities still carrying out closure work were invited to draw a cut-off date by when the final version of the documents will be submitted. Italy is delayed in respect to other Member States and all efforts should now be put on the 2014-2020 programming period. Attention was also drawn to the importance to demonstrate to external stakeholders (for example the EU Parliament), that the closure can be concluded and we can work on a very sound basis on the 2014-2020 programming period.
