Tech/Engineering - Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng / Fibra ottica
English term or phrase: Seeds
Siamo nell'ambito del processo di produzione di una fibra ottica.
Il termine "seeds" ricorre numerose volte ma non trovo nessuna soluzione adeguata. Semi? Grani? Bolle?

"The high index spike can lead to reduced bandwidth in the optical fiber; 2) GeOx or GeOxFy on the preform centerline decomposed when
x ≥ 0 during the subsequent steps of redraw to form some O2 SEEDS trapped in the preform centerline..."

"The etching process can also lead to redeposition of unwanted species (for example, GeOxFy, or GeOx, such as GeO2) which can cause centerline index spikes as well as centerline SEEDS in the preform which will result in a centerline airline in the fiber drawn from that preform".
