English term or phrase: frames per second (FPS)
Definition from Techopedia:
Frames per second (FPS) is a unit that measures display device performance. It consists of the number of complete scans of the display screen that occur each second. This is the number of times the image on the screen is refreshed each second, or the rate at which an imaging device produces unique sequential images called frames.

Example sentence(s):
  • Generally, 30 FPS is roughly the lowest frame rate at which a game is still playable.However, most gamers agree that 60 FPS is generally the ideal target since it’s more fluid and responsive. Gaming Scan
  • If you really want to advance your gaming to the next level, you might have to upgrade your hardware to get there. If you see no improvement in fps using money-saving strategies, it’s time to jump up to a better monitor or advanced graphics processor that can turn your in-game experience into an immersive reality. HP store
  • Even though the display is not able to show all 200 frames per second in its entirety, what the display does show every 1/60th of a second is produced from an input much closer in time to that frame. Techspot

Example sentence(s):
- Wired
