per scontato Explanation: This is a bit tricky--the word default is not exactly the best choice here in English. Default literally means: an option that is selected automatically unless an alternative is specified But then the writer goes on to say that there would be other definitions by default (so there are other options here). I would probably put the sentence in Italian this way, because a better choice in English for this sentence would have been to say "Up ahead there would be more definitions that would be taken at face value (taken for granted=per scontato)" Più avanti ci sarebbero state più definizioni date per scontato. definizioni negative/ per negazione Explanation: In filosofia si parla spesso di definizioni negative o concetti negativi. Quando si definisce qualcosa spiegando quello che questa cosa non è. Esempio: la libertà è non trovarsi in una situazione di prigionia. Il bene è non commettere il male..... D'altra parte in default of vuol dire in assenza di, no? (ovviamente è un puro riferimento linguistico, nulla di semantico) |
