Salve, sto traducendo alcune frasi di inglese avanzato, e mi chiedo se per il verbo modale continuous sopra riportato abbia dato la giusta traduzione. La frase intera è la seguente e la forma verbale su cui ho dubbi è fra virgolette :

When Mike came home yesterday, he claimed he had been jogging. I didn't believe a word he said. If he had really been jogging, he ''would have been sweating'' or at least out of breath. I think he went down to the coffee shop and had a donut.

Poichè secondo me questa forma verbale dà veramente la sensazione di durata nel tempo, pensavo di tradurre ''would have been sweating'' in 5 modi possibili :

1) sarebbe stato coperto di sudore
2) sarebbe stato grondante di sudore
3) sarebbe stato ancora a sudare
4) sarebbe stato tutto sudato
5) sarebbe stato sudato
6) avrebbe dovuto essere sudato

Certo Rino, ma anche " he would have been sweating" significa
" avrebbe dovuto essere sudato".
Quando traduco mi chiedo sempre come lo direi in italiano e a mio parere la mia proposta rende bene il significato.

  -> Per me sono entrambe corrette, l'una come "to be in a sweat" = "to be sweating", l'altra in forma attiva come azione di sudare. C'è da dire che uno si accorge che un altro ha corso perché "è sudato" o "suda" (ancora). Grazie ;)
