The term refers to errors that arise when more than one noun exists in a sentence and the verb used can agree with either one or the other in number.
An example would be 'The key to the cabinets is/are …'.

Project researchers focused on the encoding of object–verb agreement relations in Basque and the encoding of object–clitic agreement relations with their antecedents in Spanish. The aim was to determine if they are similarly affected by attraction effects, and if they are governed by the same principles as subject–verb agreement relations.

Concordanza a senso
Si ha quando il predicato concorda col soggetto logico e non col soggetto grammaticale. Esso si ha con:
nomi collettivi multitudo, turba, pars, exercitus etc.
es. Turba seniorum exspectabant: la folla dei senatori aspettava: il soggetto è turba ma il verbo è concordato al plurale con seniorum.
sostantivi neutri milia, capita
​es. Samnitium caesi sunt tria milia: furono uccisi tre mila Sanniti
pronomi come uter, uterque
​es. Uterque eorum exercitum educunt: entrambi di loro conduce fuori l’esercito.

Il predicato può concordare anche col sostantivo più vicino.

Attrazione del relativo
A volte può concordare per attrazione con un’apposizione o un predicativo contenuti nella proposizione.


Es. Flumen Rhenum quod in Oceanum influit: il fiume Reno che sfocia nell’Oceano.
