English term or phrase: cancellous bone
Struttura di un osso tubolare lungo; sezione attraverso la parte prossimale dell'osso della coscia destra (femore) di un adulto.
Macroscopically, two different types of bone tissue can be distinguished, merging together without sharp margins:
Substantia compacta or corticalis (compacta or compact bone is very thin in the epiphysis [end piece of the bone] and solid in the diaphysis) and Substantia spongiosa, (spongiosa, spongy or cancellous bone is only well-developed in the epi- and metaphysis [bone portion between dia- and epiphysis]).

The basic histological structure of the mature bone is the same with compact (cortical) and cancellous bone and is referred to as lamellar bone.
...
In the cancellous bone the lamellae are predominantly parallel to the surface of the trabeculae.

Trovo pochissime occorrenze in rete con osso cancelloso e quindi ho paura a tradurre così. Prima ho messo (la spongiosa, l’osso spugnoso o ....)
Grazie per il vostro aiuto.
