XXXX in Arolsen entered a new technology field with the start of its own Copper Rod production.

Vertical integration is a major advantage of magnet wire production at XXXX. Developing and producing our own enameling ovens and insulation varnishes is now supplemented by the production of own copper Rod. After six months of construction, rod production started successfully in September.

In order to install the ***Upcast facility*** a new production hall (app. 800 m²) had to be created; the work started here in Arolsen, Germany just after the winter time in March 2011. In August, the building was finished and the ***Upcast oven***, together with the coilers and other infrastructure parts, could be installed. In September, after approximately six weeks of installation, the first copper cathodes were molten and then “vertical casted” to 8,00 and 12,50 mm rod. The rod that is produced here is then used in the further production steps for round Magnet Wire and also as pre-material for Flat Wire by using the “conform process”.
