scusate la mia crassa ignoranza musicale, ma cosa si intende esattamente per "brass and wind" in questo contesto? gli ottoni a fiato? gli ottoni e i fiati? qualche altro animale misterioso? ho il sospetto che sia "ottoni e fiati", visto che poi si parla delle bagpipes, le cornamuse, che sono uno strumento a fiato ma non un ottone (almeno credo). grazie fin d'ora per l'aiuto...

Per legni si intendono tutti i fiati che non sono ottoni (trombe, tromboni, bassi tuba, ecc.), e cioè flauti, oboi, clarinetti, fagotti, corni inglesi, ecc.

Anche il sassofono (che è un'invenzione recente, essendo stato ideato da Adolphe Sax nel 1840), qui citato, fa parte dei "legni". Può sembrare strano che si includano nel "legni" strumenti di metallo come il flauto e il sassofono. Si parla però di "legni" perché in origine anche il flauto, era realizzato in legno, come pure il clarinetto, il fagotto e l'oboe.
