English term or phrase: edifice complex
"Ruskin is a dogmatic, self-indulgent, sexually repressed misogynist with an edifice complex".

all'ossessione di costruire gradi opere. Come renderlo?

complesso edilizio

Explanation:

neutral  James (Jim) Davis: This is the nearest (not the explanation), but a literal translation doesn't work: in English it just means he has a sort of weird "thing" about buildings, just as Oedipus had a "thing" about his mother and erm father too, Oedipus/Edifice ;)

ipercostruttivismo

Explanation:

disagree  James (Jim) Davis: Maybe his thing/complex was meglomania, but maybe is was a phobia, or some other obsession: In English it just means he has a sort of weird "thing" about buildings, just as Oedipus had a "thing" about his mother and erm father too, Oedipus/Edifice ;)

mania/e di grandezza

Explanation:

neutral  James (Jim) Davis: In English it just means he has a sort of weird "thing" about buildings, just as Oedipus had a "thing" about his mother and erm father too, Oedipus/Edifice ;). Perhaps "mania" is the best translation. "ricordi" leggi "evochi". Vedi discussion.
