Il testo nel quale è contenuta una frase è un testo di psicologia del 1967 che parla dell'obiettività in estetica. La frase in particolare si riferisce a come viene soggettivamente percepito il "bass". Dato che nel testo sono state fatte altre citazioni di ambito musicale, ritengo di poter tradurre "bass" come basso (strumento), ma la frase per me non ha comunque senso.

Un basso che si muove parecchio in un brano è un basso che fa molte altre note oltre alla tonica/fondamentale, ossia compie passaggi, arpeggi, scale, è dinamico, e non statico. Tipico nel rock, rock progressivo o anche del pop, se pur in maniera inferiore.

Un melodico quanto amaro arpeggio apre "Beginning the End of Everything", che poi prosegue in cadenzati riff, supportati da un basso dinamico e corposo e un portante mid-tempo.
