competenze Explanation: potrebbe fungere nel contesto? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 39 mins (2015-02-12 19:04:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- - I first saw it used as a noun in a report on an executive job candidate. The individual was "neglecting her wider remit." The definition given here, "an area of authority," makes sense in this context. - From BBC, quoting Chief UN Chemical Weapons Inspector for Syria, replying to Russia's Foreign Minister,"He described Mr Ryabkov's criticism as a political matter, and therefore not his remit. - I think that is correct because I just got an e-mail from someone in the UK using it the same way... "I recognize that these elements may not fall within your remit..." - I came across "remit" apparently meaning "scope" in an online HTML tutorial. The complete phrase [...] was: "The construction of images for the web is a little outside of the remit of this website, but it is worth noting a few things..." "Remit" as a noun with a meaning similar to "scope" (but perhaps closer to "bailiwick") does appear in the Cambridge Dictionaries Online. It is defined there as "the area which a person or group of people in authority has responsibility for or control over." So, perhaps this is a Briticism. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/remit (comments) |
