Salve a tutti,
ho bisogno del vostro aiuto per dissipare un dubbio sull'espressione "round the clock" nel seguente contesto in cui si parla dell'espansione nei mercati orientali di società operanti nella grande distribuzione organizzata:

Malaysian authorities felt the need to protect the interests of small traders and warned CompanyXYZ in March 2004 not to continue to open its stores round the clock.

Verrebbe naturale pensare che "round the clock" si riferisca a un'apertura 24 ore su 24. Ma ho il dubbio che possa essere usato in senso metaforico ovvero nel senso di "continuare senza sosta a fare qualcosa". In tal caso la domanda che vi rivolgo è la seguente: potrebbe forse significare che le autorità malesiane stiano intimando alla Company XYZ di arrestare la continua (round the clock) apertura di nuovi punti vendita?

Io non credo, sono più propenso a pensare che significhi 24H, tuttavia voglio dissipare ogni dubbio e chiedo il vostro prezioso parere.
