vi confermo che e' un proverbio...
Lo si usa spesso (come per noi del resto...)
Vi dirò di più, questo è il proverbio in inlese Britannico.
(Ho inserito come livello di affidabilita' il massimo in quanto lo appresi all'università inglese dove studiai negli anni 90)
In inglese Americano si dice pi semplicemente THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING (anche questo lo sento da almeno 10 anni in conversazioni, alla tele radio ecc.). Sono il nostro "se sono rose fioriranno"

Del resto i proverbi non si traducono letteralmente ed è questo il bello,
prendete ad esempio: Non fasciarti la testa prima di rompertela in inglese è bello: "don't cross your bridges before you have come to them" chiiaro che il senso è lo stesso... (mi sembra strano che non ci siate arrivati su quello del pudding...) va be' visto che sono generoso di insegnamenti GRATUITI ne aggiungo uno, "fare il passo piu' lungo della gamba anch'esso non e' letterale ma "to bite off more than one can chew". (anche a questo ci si arriva...). Chiaro che proverbi de tipo "Birds of a feather flock together" sono piu' difficili da capire, approposito se non sapete il significato lo lascio cercare a voi visto che v'avevo detto che ne aggiungevo solo uno... Altrimenti ne apriremo una discussione se volete

Comunque, ribadisco il concetto...
The proof is in the pudding: La prova che un pasto e' stato di successo lo si vede alla fine (al dessert al pudding): se sono rose fiorinanno (lo vediamo alla fine)... Forse quello britannico v'ha confuso le idee: The proof of the pudding is in the eating ma comunque anche li' per vedere che il pasto e' stato buono lo vedremo alla fine quando lo mangiamo...
