Quando viene applicata l’alimentazione elettrica, l’armatura viene attirata da una forza elettromagnetica in un dispositivo a corpo magnetico, la cui forza supera l’azione della molla e permette la libera rotazione del disco di frizione.Quando l’alimentazione elettrica viene interrotta, la forza elettromagnetica non è più presente e la molla di pressione impone meccanicamente alla piastra dell’armatura di agganciare il disco di frizione tra sé stesso e la piastra a pressione.Ciò sviluppa una coppia sufficiente a frenare o trattenere il carico.
