その石の、期待に反する行為(?)をどう英語で表現するか？

長々しい説明をしましたが、議論がそれているようですので、ちょっと参入しました。
ですからここではその７~１０ヶ月の若木は抜かれて、その幹に接木として埋め込まれたわけです。

余談ながらcolonyというのも日本語に訳しにくい言葉ですね。カタカナで逃げるしかないですね。
