基本的な文法がわかりません。

特に、カッコ内の「Ｒ１及びＲ２」から始まる文の訳がいまいちつかめません。すみません、基本的な文法についてなんですが、どなたか説明していただけますか？　Ｒ１及びＲ２が主語ですよね？　で、その後のBeingからはＲ１及びＲ２の説明で、次にorが来ますがどうつなげればいいのでしょうか？

失礼ですが今回はプロレベルなのかな、という印象を持ちました。高校生の化学ＩＩか（でも有機化学の話はごく一部です）、有機化学の大学１年生用くらいの本を読んでみたらいいかも。

あとでメールで付け加えたのですが、箇条書きのような書き方でいいと思います。主語とか述語は確かにないといえばないですね。R1とR2は○○から選ぶ、って感じです。

さらにいうと、or may togetherのあとは「または○○になることがある」じゃないかと思います。本筋とは関係ないのですが、最後の方のarylは訳語を間違えやすいので、注意してください。allylというのもあるので。

特許は実務翻訳者からすると？？って思う文体が多い気がするのですが、そういう用例のひとつかもしれませんね。

agree  Double King: Yes, I think snowiee explained it perfectly. This grammar would be very difficult even for a native speaker who was not trained in organic chemistry.
