English term or phrase: model polymer substrate
This term appears in the following sentence:

As a model polymer substrate, we used poly(ethylene covinyl alcohol) (pEVOH) due to the availability of a reactive hydroxyl.

I translated this sentence as follows:

反応性ヒドロキシルの利用可能性を理由にポリ(エチレン‐co‐ビニルアルコール) (pEVOH)はモデル高分子基材として使われた。

However, I don't feel satisfied with my translation, particularly because I can't find モデル高分子基材 anywhere on the net.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to answer in English or in Japanese.

Thank you!

モデル高分子基質
Explanation:
I think your original translation is okay.
I just put "基質" instead of "基材" but you're wording is just fine, too.
