a dandy in aspic 自由に役を変えられないダンディー Explanation: Aspic 自体は貴族の食事だったようなので、Dandy と合わせて、上流階級をからかっているかもしれません。 (Set) in aspic を比喩で使う場合、たいてい、良い意味では「昔ながらの」、悪い意味では「旧態依然とした」のように、過去から「変化のない」状態、昔のまま「固定化された」状態を表しています。本来は自在に二人の役をこなしていたけれど、自由に役柄を変えられなくなることをタイトルで暗喩しているのだと思います。 |
