in the north in flensburg Reference: http://www.flensburg-tourismus.de/stadtplan1.html?&L=0 Reference: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flensburg |

in the north in flensburg 北にあるフレンズブルグ (in Flensburg in the north) Explanation: It should be “in Flensburg in the north” The “Zugspitze”, a mountain peak at the southernmost areas of Germany bordering Austria, is located to the south of Flensburg. (See a map below) “in the north” is relative to this starting point – the peak. In any case, one would not assume the southern and central parts of the city of Flensburg is a mountain (only in this hypothetical case will one speak of “in the north of/in Flensburg”, considering the route being taken) FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zugspitze The Zugspitze (Zug = "draught", Spitze = "peak") is the highest mountain in Germany. It is located at the Austrian border in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2006-06-02 12:57:31 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- This makes sense then -- Flensburg is located in the norternmost areas of Germany (note, it is still not the northernmost point). The trip involved traversing the country from South to North. "In the North in Flensburg" is not grammatical. In any case, it should have been "...of Flensburg". In the North then means "[in Flensburg] in the North of Germany". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flensburg |
