Mehrere Stunden lang wird das blutgerinnungshemmende Medikament über eine Infusion verabreicht, um einer Bildung von Blutgerinnseln (Thrombose) vorzubeugen. Zusätzlich wird kontinuierlich ein EKG aufgezeichnet. Der Patient muss außerdem viel trinken, damit das Kontrastmittel schnell mit dem Urin ausgeschieden wird.
