Medical - Medical: Pharmaceuticals / Anesthesiology
English term or phrase: contention
What is the term CONTENTION mean in this context?

The investigated drug is intended for non-frequent surgical or contention interventions.

In this context, the investigated drug is an anesthetic.
I consulted some dictionary saying that this term means ..." a point advanced or maintained in a debate or argument (Merriam-Webster)."

I think this is irrelevant for this term though.

English and Japanese Answer will be welcomed!

Thank for in advance.

Japanese translation:抑制
Explanation:
