Hello. I'm working on a cartoon. In it, a pig princess gets coronation, but after that, people (well, actually animals.) in the kingdom keep calling her "princess."
In English-Japanese dictionary, it says "princess" is "王女、女王”、so in this case, after the coronation, the pig should be 「女王」。
What I want to know is in what situation 女王　gets to be called "princess"?. The pig princess is aroungd 7-8 years old. When 女王 is very young, is she called "princess"? Or is there any other reasons ?

やや異なるのですが、ちょっとこちらを考えて見ましょう。女王とは実際に女性が戴冠式を経て君主の位にあるとき queen なのですが、また単に国王の妻である場合もこれまた queen ですよね。
ですからこのように、あまりにも若い場合は、princess　と呼ぶのが妥当だと思います。昔 Steven Spilburg (spell?) の歴史映画を見たとき、１２才くらいの女王が出てきました。ベッドの上で飛び跳ねながら、家臣の報告を聞いたりしていました。歴史上の人物です。
このときの呼び名は Your Majesty だけでした。だから queen でもよさそうですが、漫画だから princess　と呼ぶほうがかわいいのと違いますか?

でもどなたか、どういう場合に女王の立場の人をprincessと呼ぶのか、ご存じでしたら教えて下さい。
