In other words, the pool is probably in shadow (from other tall buildings nearby?) in the early morning and late afternoon....
It doesn't sound like something the Hotel PR people themselves would say - more like an independent review....

Asker: Actually this is a guidebook. So it may make sense to reveal both good points and shortcomings. Maybe I myself might have thought it strange to write something critical about the hotel and was thus distracted
