It would be nice to understand and capture the nuance, and then express it in Japanese, if you can. It's not always easy :) Did you add the double quotation marks? (I take it that it was not in the source text.) 直訳するとAホテルのゼネラルマネージャーの帽子をBホテルのゼネラルマネージャーの帽子にかぶり直した、という感じですが、この手の翻訳は文章の切れ味が鈍ると台無しになりますね。 在籍6年のAホテルから同グループに転属したVlad は、地位はゼネラルマネージャーのまま鞍替えだけしたことになる。 英語の枝葉にとらわれて日本語固有の係り受けや文末のあしらいをおろそかにすると、かえって英語の「ニュアンス」を取り逃がすことがよくありますが、粗雑になるのもよくありません。この種の文書はそのあたりの踏ん切りがむずかしいです。 |
