Reference information:
While handling each toy, ask yourself this question “Is this a toy my child can pour his imagination into or is it too fixed?” A “fixed” toy is one that is very detailed, too finished and may only do one thing. In play, children use what they can move and what they can transform with their imagination. It is not the things themselves. This flexibility is the difference between ‘fixed’ toys and ‘open-ended’ toys. Not only do most complex toys get torn apart or break easily, they don’t stimulate the imagination of the child. Children often respond to less complex toys. Simple toys stoke curiosity and cultivate the power of attention. With this, children gain the freedom to be, to imagine, and to create. - https://www.sparkjoy.space/blog-1/2017/2/22/a-parents-guide-...
