Dokładne brzmienie zdania w tekście: There is no point in tackling a gnat with an elephant gun.

Potrzebuję polskiego odpowiednika, który oddawałby następujący sens - podejmowania się nieadekwatnego działania wobec potrzeby danej sytuacji (niewłaściwe dobranie środków do sytuacji). W miarę możliwości - stosowanie przesadzonych środków do sytuacji która tego nie wymaga.

Myślę o "porywaniu się z motyką na słońce", ale tu sens idiomu bardziej zmierza do: podejmować się czegoś niemożliwego.

Wariant tego idiomu podobno też stosował Konfucjusz, ale nie znalazłam polskiego tłumaczenia: "Do not use a cannon to kill a mosquito".

Może ktoś ma jakiś pomysł, bo ja już wyczerpałam swoje zasoby...

Asker: Czy dysponujesz może linkiem do słownika/literatury, w którym takie powiedzenie występuje? Nigdy nie słyszałam tego idiomu w polskiej wersji dlatego brzmi mi dosyć obco.

Asker: Cytaty z gazet też znalazłam. Mówiąc literatura/słownik, mam na myśli książki/ strony www słownikowe.
