English term or phrase: ever-crumbling facade of their life
'While some people unfortunately just bully to make themselves feel bigger, others lack control in their own lives so completely that they feel they have to take it from other people. It’s difficult to look past the actions of the stereotypical bully, that meanspirited person who pushed you over at school or took every opportunity possible to belittle you in the workplace or used you in any way wherever and whenever possible. However, these actions can often simply be an attempt to keep some kind of grip, to claw back some degree of control from the ever-crumbling facade of their life.'
