entendo que neste contexto parece ser mais uma estrutura natural , que é o chão do porto (the floor of the harbour......the site itself was on a slight rise or mole).... e não construída , porque mole também pode ser um molhe, ou um pier, ou um quebramar, ou mesmo o próprio porto...e ver adiante no texto que diz que ao longo dos séculos, com as deposições, esta área mal se distingue do chão do mar
