Explanation:
I think that it is more than than just fabrication or manufacture. Shop drawings will show the details to fabricate but also how to construct and install. What building materials techniques to use, finishes etc.
This is the reason why builders, suppliers, contractors, from all trades produce shop drawings and some times templates to confirm these shop drawings. Shop drawings are proper drawings. Measures and details have to be accurate. These are taken in situ or on site.
