This case is for TAX FILING PURPOSES and looking for the specific definition you'll find that "head of household" is "A federal tax filing category for an unmarried taxpayer who paid more than half the cost of maintaining a household that includes at least one dependent." http://www.yourdictionary.com/business/head-of-household Therefore the word "casal" cannot be used here!

Asker: Acho que para TAX FILING PURPOSES o termo "head of household" foge um pouco do contexto brasileiro de chefe de família - pois sempre que falamos em família pensamos num casal (como no caso da resposta da Mariana). Mas a definição é clara quando diz que "A federal tax filing category for an unmarried taxpayer who paid more than half the cost of maintaining a household that includes at least one dependent." Então escolho essa como a "most helpful answer" pois um pai, sua filha, um primo e a avó, quando juntos, considera-se uma família!
